The Seasons…They are a changing! And we are excited for whats to come!

… well we dont know if “excited” is really the word – but enthusiastic! We love this season as it keeps us busy finishing off our fall projects, winterizing all of our plants and pushing snow out of the way for our favourite clients… oh and dont forget the best part… looking for the biggest, fullest, Christmas tree we can find (well we are landscapers… we might know the best places to look!) to drag up the driveway in hopes our families will remember us from our long days away, working to finish your masterpieces this past Summer Season.

It’s almost time to throw out the wilted pumpkins and get those Christmas lights up! Give us a call, we would love to set your home up like Clark Griswald’s without the headaches (cant promise your equivalent relative to Cousin Eddy wont show up though). Just sit back from the warmth of your home with your hot cocoa as we make your home a concern for the satellite stations orbiting North America!

We have some exciting news to share too! We are now offering Concrete Services! Isnt that great! Some of our services include: Exposed Concrete Aggregate, Driveways and Footpaths, Pool Surroundings, Sheds and Patios, Coloured and Stamped Concrete.

Now if you are like Clark – you are awaiting a BIG BONUS this holiday season – so remember who to call when you want to install that great big pool!

Some Helpful Tips for our readers. As always – we want you all to have the healthiest – greatest spaces.  We have put together some  information and tips that might assist you in readying your yard for the next wonderful season we are so lucky to experience!

• Plant spring-blooming bulbs such as tulips and daffodils. You can plant them any time from September through Mid November as a rule of thumb – as long as the ground can be easily worked.

• Be sure to rake your leaves and dispose of them, preferably in a compost heap. Failing to rake leaves can result in a dying or diseased lawn.

• Throw on those rubber boots and uproot any annual flowers or vegetables that have been damaged by frost. Dispose of these in the compost heap; if you suspect disease, throw them in the garbage.

• Put those garden shears you bought this spring (that are still in the package) in your excitement for the season to work – Cut back any perennials whose foliage has become unsightly, almost to the ground.

• Ask Grandma to come over to play Rummy and weed the garden. Fall action prevents weeds from getting a head start next spring, saving you work in the long run!

• Protect roses as needed.

• In our great part of the world our tempurates fall below minus 10 – and for that reason you should apply a winter mulch to perennials. Simply lay a lightweight organic mulch, such as shredded autumn leaves, pine needles or straw, over beds to protect plants from winter’s extremes. Avoid more compact mulches and whole leaves (which can mat), since they can suffocate plants.

• “Water In” evergreens and small trees and shrubs if the fall weather is especially dry. (Our Calgary team knows these rules by thumb!) Their foliage and stems need to be nice and plump to prevent damage from drying winds now through early spring.
